Be sure to create your own bash script and download backups regularly to a backup server. Here's what we use in a hourly cron job:
sudo mysqldump -h ${MYSQL_HOST} \
-P ${MYSQL_PORT} \
-u ${MYSQL_USER} \
-p${MYSQL_PASSWORD} \
${DATABASE_NAME} \
--ssl-ca=/path/to/cert/zrh_root.crt | sudo gzip > ${DATABASE_NAME}-${TODAY}.sql.gz
The mysqldump
command is available in the mysql-client
package on Debian/Ubuntu based distros, probably a similar name on Centos, Redhat, Fedora and similar as well.
