Well, they made an attempt to be more like GNU+Linux. But I just cannot see any reason to move back from GNU+Linux. I suppose this feature can and will be useful for Windows users however as package managers is a great way to manage software and dependencies.
It's also safer than having to browse the web for a some shady third party site where you download the software, including a custom built installer that also tries to trick you into installing all kinds of bloatware.
