Different generations, a way to decentralize

Is it correct that different server generations represents different data center owners, and in that case different terms? And can this somehow be used as a way to decentralize an application, meaning that if I have an application running on server from different generations, will it be safe if something happens to a certain data center?

Generally speaking, you may choose a multi data center setup to protect against hardware or connectivity failures in a certain region. Different generations may also protect you from legal issues, if say one individual data center fails to obey the law and is therefore shutdown.

It should be mentioned that above event is not very likely. However, if it where to happen it would be classified as Force Majeure where you'd only get a refund, but no compensation. Don't forget to have a backup plan.

I think G1, G2 and G3 are mostly USA controlled and obeys the US laws. For G4 each data center is individually and locally owned. G4 is generally more expensive tho, not as flexible in terms of contract length but more flexible in sizing. You'd need a business account too.
