With all the big tech censorship going on right now, I was wondering if this is the right place to launch a conservative site. Simply put, what's your stand on the censorship?

Pepe_The_Frog Get one server from each generation, it's literally different legal jurisdictions, sync your site between them with rsync and galera for the database, then put Cloudflare in front.

You do that and I think it'll be nearly impossible for haters to shut you down. Best of luck 👍️

This banning wave can be summed up in one word: pathetic. It's like a massive contest where participants tries to prove who can mistreat their users the most, all while the useful idiots are cheering. One of the primary goals with 99Stack Cloud was no less than free speech, and we take this matter seriously.

We realized early on the importance of decentralization and to not put all the eggs in the same basket. With that said, the infrastructure required to be completely safe from internet censorship is very expensive. We therefore choose a different approach, which is decentralization, on a worldwide scale.

So what does it mean in reality? can we be shutdown? well yes, but only partially and not for very long. This site is served from 7 different data centers spread over 4 different continents. We also got our own backup facilities saving cold backups of everything every hour.

We're available in 56 individual datacenters spread over 4 continents at the moment, all operated by different entities with varying political views. And more are scheduled to be added later this year.

Providing free speech for people in the third world for over 5 years, now they gotta work with oppressors in third world to provide free speech for people in the west. Ironic what the world has become, isn't it.

I like the idea tho, centralization will always make it easy to shut something down. Custom protocols is obviously the future but it'll take years before those become widely available to the public.

JesseWells The globalist elite has massive amounts of resources at hand. I don't think anyone could be truly safe anywhere, this is probably your best bet as the alternative would be some "bullet proof" hosting with just one location in a country where everything is legal.

But then the IP space would be blacklisted almost everywhere, rendering the service useless. I've never got a blacklisted IP here as far as I can recall. All providers are legit and balanced in terms of regulation and performance.

My recommendation however would be to build the back-end here, and put something in front, like Cloudflare. Because A, the networks ain't monitored. And B, having a cache and DDoS protection service in front makes it harder for anyone seeking to censor you, to actually find you and know where to target their threats.

This is where the privacy comes in handy, no matter how well known you are, nobody could figure out if you got your back-end servers here on 99Stack.

Knut_Engstrom Each node in the cluster operates as it's own entity, and all files and data is synced live between them. Once needed, more nodes are deployed within the same location but in another availability zone. This is to provide horizontal scaling with high availability.

Right now we have 7 locations: us-west, us-east, eu-west, eu-central, as-south, as-east and au-east, each respond to the global url and to it's local url, served from a different DNS server. As long as at least one of these nodes are online all our sites will be up and running.

Customer servers operate in it's own environment, fully separated from our own virtual infrastructure for best possible security and high availability. You can check the status on individual nodes here: https://stats.99stack.com, on average we typically have 99.99% up-time on local nodes, and 100% up-time on the global endpoints for a couple of years now.
