Let's face the facts, some people enjoy pre-installed software of all types, others call it bloatware. Our auto installer features only open source projects but despite that it might still be seen as bloatware by some. We also have professional users with more knowledge about how to optimize our servers for their applications.
To make a long story short, this suggestion is about making the auto installer completely optional and split it into pieces that can be selected just like you would select location or operating system so that you can select which software or group of software you want pre-installed or none at all. This could for instance be a security setup which improves default server security, adds basic DDoS protection etc.
This would also open up for LAMP, LEMP or LLMP stacks to be optionally pre-installed on any plan . Amount of swap space could be configurable as well as additional libraries needed to run various games or applications on your instances. With multiple providers this is going to be necessary I believe. Best of all, for maximum transparency all these auto installation scripts will be open source.
