Beware, Nvidia releases new GPU's where mining isn't allowed

Nvidia blocks mining at firmware level on some of their new GPU's in an attempt to make them less attractive for miners. Beware anyone who plan to buy a GPU for mining. More info in article:

I wonder what the cause of the shortage is. Are people really this short sighted that they wait for new ATH's before they suddenly panics and think "I gotta go and buy a GPU, now". Or is it the same type of people who panic buys at the very top and then complain about crypto being a pyramid game...

BitcoinExpert Probably a bit of both. I've also hear India is banning Bitcoin again lol, is it the 1000th time now or what?

Good to know, that's a real shame and still no GPU's on the market.

Allan_Virtanen So much FUD, everyone's "banning" all the time. And all of those bans will be just as "successful" as Hollywood vs pirates or the government vs drugs.

It appears to be some models in the 30xx series, 20xx series and earlier does not have this restriction.

AndrewLowrance So far I haven't seen any with that limitation tho. But I guess it's because of the chip shortage. Can't find a 30xx GPU anywhere.
