Check this out, Syncthnig has added a feature called "untrusted devices" which allows you to set a password and encrypt folders on say a remote VPS with block storage attached. This is a great and secure backup solution: https://docs.syncthing.net/users/untrusted.html
Magnus_Lind Finally, got it up and running on a low end VPS in just minutes. If you need compression I'd recommend G2 servers as they offer more CPU compression performance for your money.
That's great news! 👍️
Great feature and easy to use.
Still in beta, does anyone know if it works to just add an existing folder as untrusted, or do I have to make a new untrusted device?
Pepe_The_Frog You need to make the whole device untrusted I think.
Seems to be working now with just the folder, looked into the file system and it's encrypted indeed.
Pepe_The_Frog Tested and confirmed. 👍️
Cool feature, backup to VPS suddenly became interesting. 👌
Orson_Deforest Absolutely, might as well expand with block storage now as well.
That's great news!
