Of course it works, this is literally why the cloud was created. So that you can spin up servers on demand and compile very fast. Generally speaking I would go for compute servers as they run on higher frequency.
However, as far as I know 99Stack doesn't throttle their CPU's, not even on the cheaper plans, so standard should work too. Standard has enough memory by default if you go for a slightly bigger plan so don't bother getting a memory plan as they're just as expensive as the compute plans.
